Our Outreach Education department speaks to the youth in our community in public & private schools, youth groups and other youth venues using the Aspire curriculum. Our Connexions presentations are designed to help students think through some of the most important decisions of their lives. Specifically, it is designed to help today's youth resist the many pressures pushing them toward sexual activity by making wise choices and decisions today. Connexions is about learning to resist the power of the present and choosing instead to pursue future freedoms. Our desire is to equip today's youth with strategies to cultivate healthy relationships, with an emphasis on honoring marriage and reserving sexual expression for the marriage relationship. Connexions Program Report 2008-2009Connexion’s vision is to encourage a culture to make decisions that embrace and support abstinence and healthy relationships; which will create tomorrow’s healthy marriages is happening! In the last school year, 19,983 students participated in a Connexions presentation! This is an increase of 300%! We offer individualized programs and presentations which are designed specifically for sixth grade through high school aged students. Our curriculum has been reviewed and approved by the US Department of Health and Human Services, specifically the Administration for Children and Families Bureau. Our presentations are perfect for students in public schools, private schools and youth serving organizations. We are empowering teens to make decisions that put their sexual health and their goals as priorities. After seeing our program over 90% of students say our program is helpful or very helpful. Connexions is currently scheduling students for the 2009-2010 school year. We are on track to present to over 20,000 students! These are critical moments in a teen’s life. Decisions they make now will likely shape their life for years to come. The teen years are a time when the pressure is the greatest, and sexual activity has the potential to take their life in a different direction. Resisting pressures is one of the best things a young person can do to keep their life on track and to accomplish their future goals and dreams. If you would like to help teens in making these decisions, Connexions is searching for passionate presentation speakers and administrative volunteers.
