Class Assistant

Department: Expecting Miracles

Reports to: Expecting Miracles Director

 

 

GENERAL DESCRIPTION: The Class Assistant at the PRC is a regularly scheduled volunteer who has a heart for our ministry and clients and who provides support to our clients and instructor(s) during Expecting Miracles classes. Shifts are 2.5 hrs, for 7wks, with 2wks to 2 months in between series. The Class Assistant works closely with the instructor whom they are assigned to assist, as well as interacting regularly with clients.

 

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Ensure classroom is set up for class (including placement of chairs)

  • Oversee Client check-in, providing a welcoming and friendly presence

  • Help Clients select items from the Baby Boutique and oversee check-out during designated shopping times

  • Phone follow-up with Clients who do not come to class

  • Assist Class Instructor during class as requested (which may involve learning and helping to demonstrate birth and baby techniques, if volunteer is comfortable with that)

  • Occasionally provide support for clients who come to class without a support person (helping them with techniques and/or being available to talk with and encourage them)

  • Ensure classroom, Baby and Maternity Boutique, and check-in area are tidied at the end of each shift and all materials put away

  • Alert Expecting Miracles Director of supply needs as noticed

  • Follow closing protocol, ensuring all necessary doors are locked

  • Attend quarterly in-services

 

 

OTHER DUTIES AS ASSIGNED

 

 

WORK SCHEDULE:

  • One shift per week (One year commitment unless otherwise discussed with Expecting Miracles Director)

  • Three Volunteer In-Service Meetings per year
